Movie Review: Dil Bole Hadippa

They say two things sell in Bollywood, sex and Shah Rukh Khan. But whoever said that, somewhere forgot the love for sport.

Hadippa is a light hearted film that makes for good time pass. Even though there is nothing new in the storyline, the movie is endearing for its simplicity and Rani Mukheree’s uninhibited and smashing performance. The movie skillfully intermeshes human relationships with passion for cricket.

A movie much like SheMan, Hadippa revolves around Veera, whose love for cricket and desire to play for the country at the local Aman cup forces her to dress up like a male player, Veer. And as she befriends her coach Rohan as Veer, she gets wooed by him as Veera. All the confusion amidst dialogues and songs from evergreen films like, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and DDLJ makes Hadippa a fun film.

Rani Mukherjee carries off her role of Veer and Veera both with such effortlessness shutting up all the detractors who had written her off.

Shahid Kapoor is his usual endearing self but seems to be copying shah rukh more than giving his own unique performance. His style is remniscent of the shah rukh we saw in chak de.

There are a few redundant moments wasted in melodrama but then cricket comes to the rescue of the film. Hadippa is a happy and colourful film much like the lighter movies Yash Raj banner is famous for. No unnecessary dhishum dhishum or rona dhona, Hadippa needs to be watched for Rani’s slick look and killer performance.
