Great blog. About time something like this was done.
Now it’s Rani’s turn. Being the best actress in Bollywood apparently isn’t enough. Turning in fantastic performance after playful role isn’t enough. That’s not enough for fans anymore. Why, I don’t know. Even when she plays something different, which people complain about, they still complain.
So I don’t think Rani can afford to be picky anymore. She can’t sit around being so choosy saying scripts aren’t good enough for her. I think Rani’s beyond talented enough to take any role, no matter how poorly written she may think it is, and turn it into something great. So she should accept the next script offered with Akshay, for example. If they allow her some input, she can make it so much better. No more excuses that only YRF offer her good roles. That’s not working. Sticking with them is fine but they’re not sticking by her – they do nothing to promote her. She worked her adorable butt off for TPTM, more than YRF did, and was rewarded by YRF deciding to start doing promotion for their *next* film. That’s sticking by a star who’s always stuck by you, all right.
So I hope Rani wakes up to her many talents which includes making something out of nothing – taking a script she may not think is “A” material, and turning it *into* just that.

i think rani is thinking abt her fans too much…which is making her too picky in her scripts. maybe thats why the directors are not offering her roles. rani should be flexable now.
i agree paul, but rani does make the smallest role into something so special..eg saawariya..she made the role so wonderful to watch..she stoodout, even rani haters loved her. she even did that in her early films..even if is was a flop..rani stood out.

Runa, you’re absolutely correct. In the majority of reviews for Saawariya, love it or hate it, there was one thing almost all of them said – Rani’s performance stood out as a saving grace, the one great thing in the film. In fact, lately that’s what’s been happening. Even if her films get poor reviews, Rani still rises above it. And why not?
It’s sort of what I was saying – at this point in her career she’s virtually incapable of turning in a poor performance. So, as far as her fans are concerned, she won’t disappoint us by doing a poor acting job, because she *can’t*. She’s gotten so good at it I think she’d have to *try* to act badly at this point. There’s a saying here in the U.S., and maybe all over, about a great actor – they’re so good you would turn up to watch them read the phone book. That’s how good Rani is. It doesn’t matter what she does at this job.
So that takes us back to an idea we at Sussi’s forum have discussed for at least a year and you’ve already mentioned – an image change. Or at least just a role to turn heads and show producers, directors and non-fans Rani can do *any* type of role. She’s already been doing it, whether they realize that it or not, but apparently on too small a scale.
But what she needs is something in line with the rumors of a villain in a Dhoom 3 film, if that ever comes about. That would be perfect. If not that, then some kind of evil negative role like that, anyway. Just anything Rani can sink her teeth into where *she’s* the one causing someone *else’s* tears!
I think not only would it be great for the industry to see how Rani can stretch in another type of role (although I don’t think it’d actually be a tough thing for her to do) but she’d have a blast doing it. Every actor says they have more fun playing the bad guy than the good. They’re more enjoyable. I say, it’s time for Phase II of Rani’s career – the Bad Girl! Quickly, someone get me a pad and pencil so we can begin writing the script for her since no one else is intelligent enough to do it for her, already!!

Raj, I believe Rani is well aware of those negative publicity. She reads all stuff that was written about her, good and bad. But there is nothing she can do to stop them, except issuing clarifications, which she did several times. And how many times a normal person can issue these clarifications, it comes to a point where the media just don’t listen.
Your intentions are good, we all support you, and we are all here to support Rani, which is why we came up with this blog. And believe me, you are not the only one madly in love with Rani

Hi. I am from Turkey . A month agp I gad no idea about Bolywood.
Then I met Saawariya in some download site. I downloaded the film just for cruosity. Looking araound for the girl dancing found the name Rani M.. Then Veer Zaara, then Hadippa and all the others listed in IMDB. I watched them all more then 4-5 times
each. She is a very good actress. On the other hand she is not very beatiful, not very sexy, not very symphatetic. I could give 7-8 over ten on each. BUT she is a creature with alll of them together. Beatiful,sexy enough, very sympahetetic and her orginal voice something male and female compounded is very nice maybe sexy. I dont have much idea about Indian girls and from what I have seen on Boly Pictures Rani is not an eourpian looking females but thoose eyes of her she is a mystical indian girl. As for my last words about her is she is THE PERFECT BEEING!!! I am sure in her private life she is a modern Indian girl but for me she will always be the Mystical INDIAN PRINCESS a girl whom you could easiliy fall in love. I wish her a happy life.
PS: Sorry about illegal downloading her films. But we have no chance of buying them around here.
